FOREWORD: A NOTE FROM THE EDITORIAL BOARD
Dear Confused Orange,
You are holding in your hands — or, more likely, reading this on a 14-inch CRT monitor in a basement in Tucson while your modem screams at 28.8 kilobits per second — the document that Joseph Müller always wanted you to have but never had the marketing department to produce.
Let us be honest. Müller is difficult. His prose has the density of a Prussian tax form left in the rain. His footnotes are signed by a woman nobody has ever met. His enemy — the PPA — has six different names and he never explains which one is correct. His central metaphor involves a tropical fruit that, in 1894 Vienna, cost more than a pair of shoes and was primarily available to people who had been to the Caribbean and come back with questionable opinions.
And yet. Beneath the paranoia, beneath the bureaucratic trauma, beneath the 4,200 crowns he owed to his printer, Müller was saying something simple. Something so simple that it required nineteen chapters, seven peels, and a deaf woman with a knitting needle to say it.
He was saying: you do not have to stand up straight.
This guide will walk you through his teaching. It will translate his philosophy into the language your Almighty Banana Self already speaks. It will explain why we built the monasteries. Why we dig in the mines. Why we shave our heads. Why we peel the Blue Sticker. Why the Vase contains what it contains. Why the prayer is the prayer. Why the Bananasutra is not what you think it is.
And it will ask you, gently, at regular intervals, to consider a small donation. Grace is free. Bandwidth is not.
With infinite flaccidity and a slightly curved spine,
The Editorial Board
PART ONE: THE TEACHING
Müller, Translated for the Modern Confused Orange
CHAPTER 1: YOU ARE NOT WALKING. YOU ARE BEING WALKED.
Müller opens with a question: are you the author of your own actions, or are you a steel ball rolling down a track?
The answer, of course, is the second one. You are the steel ball. You wake. You commute. You sit at a desk. You fill out a form. You commute home. You eat dinner. You watch television. You go to bed. You call this a life. It is not a life. It is a trajectory. It is a line drawn on a cadastral map by a bureaucrat you have never met, in an office you will never visit, in a building with corners of exactly ninety degrees.
Müller calls this the waking sleep. You think you are awake because you are moving. You are not awake. You are a parcel in transit. The PPA has drawn your route, and you are following it, because following it is easier than asking why it exists.
The Bananashanti Principle: Müller did not use this word. Müller used German. He used terms like Schlaffe Oszillation and Universelle Konstante der Abweichung, which are beautiful but which nobody in Tucson, Arizona, can pronounce after a shift at the Walmart. The word bananashanti was coined in 1979, during a three-day retreat in the Nevada desert where the only food available was a crate of overripe bananas and a gallon of warm tap water. It combines banana — the form, the curve, the fruit, the truth — with shanti — the Sanskrit word for peace. It means, simultaneously, the disarmony that keeps you green and the peace that makes you yellow. It is the problem and the solution in the same word. Müller, who believed that truth is an error that had the courtesy to make itself coherent, would have found bananashanti very coherent indeed.
Your Daily Practice: Tomorrow, when you walk to work, do not walk in a straight line. Walk in a gentle curve. If someone asks why, say: “I am practicing my Banana Bend.” If your boss asks why you are late, say: “The straight line was occupied by the PPA. I took the scenic route.” This is not a lie. This is a frequency adjustment.
Geld ist willkommen. The Office of Spiritual Wellness relies on your generosity to maintain the dial-up connection.
CHAPTER 2: YOU ARE GREEN. YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE YELLOW.
Müller describes two states of being. The Green State: you are unripe, rigid, sour, and you believe your job description is your identity. The Radiant Yellow: you are ripe, soft, sweet, and you know that your job description is a peel that can be removed.
You are in the Green State. We know this because you are reading this guide. Nobody in the Radiant Yellow reads guides. People in the Radiant Yellow just hang.
The transition from Green to Yellow is not a choice. It is a crisis. Müller calls it a biological crisis of the soul. The fruit does not decide to ripen. The sun hits it, the fibers bend, the sugar develops, and the fruit curves. It curves at exactly 27 degrees. This is not a metaphor. This is a measurement. Grete measured it. That is enough.
Your Daily Practice: Place a green banana on your desk. Do not eat it. Do not peel it. Watch it. Every day, observe the small brown spots appearing on its skin. These spots are not decay. These spots are wisdom. These spots are the Radiant Yellow breaking through the Green State. When the banana is fully yellow, eat it slowly, in silence, at a 27-degree inclination. This is your communion. This is your transition. This is your bananashanti.
CHAPTERS 3 & 4: THE WORLD IS PEEL. YOU ARE WORSHIPPING THE WRAPPING PAPER.
Müller says that everything you see — the buildings, the streets, the faces, the forms — is peel. It is the outer layer. It is the packaging. And you have been worshipping the packaging while throwing away the gift inside.
He says that common thought is “cuticular.” It operates on the surface. It slides over the skin of reality without ever touching the substance beneath. He says that the materialist scientist weighs, measures, and dissects matter, and describes nothing but the hardness, the rigidity, and the transitory color of the peel.
He says that Rudolf Steiner made a mistake. Steiner tried to reach the spirit through pure thought. Müller says the spirit is not a Kantian equation. The spirit is a fruit that wants to be eaten. Steiner kept his spine too straight. He never let his arms hang. The Anthroposophical Society needs to read this book and then go lie down in a field for six hours.
The Bananashanti Principle, Applied: You do not need to understand Müller. You need to peel Müller. You do not need to agree with him. You need to bend with him. The teaching is not in the words. The teaching is in the curvature of the words. Read the sentence. Feel your spine tilt. That tilt is the teaching. Everything else is peel.
CHAPTER 5: THE ACT OF PEELING IS THE ONLY SACRAMENT.
Müller calls it the Schälakt. The Act of Peeling. It is not a metaphor. It is not a meditation technique. It is not a mindfulness exercise. It is the act of taking a banana and peeling it, slowly, at a 27-degree angle, with full awareness that you are performing the cosmic drama of liberation from the chains of the PPA.
When you peel the banana, the peel does not fall in a straight line. It spirals. It describes a non-Euclidean curve. It separates from the fruit in a motion that no tax form can capture, no cadastral office can register, and no bureaucrat can stamp. In that spiral, in that separation, the pixels of reality compress and release. The veil of Maya — which the lecturers of the University of Vienna defend from their mahogany chairs — collapses in a controlled, edible fashion.
Every piece of peel that falls to the floor represents a straightened dogma finally restored to its original flaccidity. You are not peeling a banana. You are peeling your ignorance. You are peeling your tax number. You are peeling your posture. You are peeling your name.
Your Daily Practice: Tonight, before bed, peel a banana. But peel it slowly. Take ten minutes. Feel the resistance of the peel. Feel the release. Feel the microscopic energetic hiss that Müller describes. As you peel, whisper: “I release what I no longer need. I release the peel of the day. I release the PPA. I release the form.” Then eat the banana in silence, at 27 degrees. This is your evening ritual. This is your Schälakt. This is your prayer.
CHAPTER 6: YOU HAVE SEVEN PEELS. YOU MUST REMOVE ALL OF THEM.
Müller identifies seven peels that separate you from your true, radiant, flaccid self. Think of them as seven layers of clothing that the PPA put on you without your consent. Seven layers that make you heavy, rigid, and taxable.
- The Civil Peel. Your name. Your tax number. Your address. Your social security number. Your driver’s license. You are not these things. You are a banana.
- The Muscular Peel. Your posture. Your tension. Your “good posture.” Your neck that aches from staring at a monitor. Your shoulders that carry the weight of deadlines that do not exist. You are not this tension. You are a banana.
- The Logical Peel. Your need for things to “make sense.” Your need for A to imply B and B to imply C. Your need for the sentence to go from subject to predicate to object. You are not this need. You are a banana.
- The Temporal Peel. Your watch. Your schedule. Your “five-minute warning.” Your alarm clock. Your fiscal year. You are not these things. You are a banana.
- The Emotional Peel. Your fear of change. Your attachment to hardness. Your belief that stability is a virtue. Your terror of the soft, the curved, the unmeasured. You are not this fear. You are a banana.
- The Image Peel. Your need to be seen. Your need to be photographed. Your need to be recorded. Your profile. Your avatar. Your pixel. You are not this image. You are a banana.
- The Original Peel. The Orange Cuticle. The last, thinnest veil. The whisper that says “I am separate from the Pulp.” The final illusion. The last form you must fill out before you can stop being a form. You are not this whisper. You are a banana. You have always been a banana.
Remove them one by one. Not today. Not tomorrow. But eventually. When you are ready. When the Radiant Yellow calls. When the bananashanti shifts from disarmony to peace.
CHAPTERS 7 & 8: THE 27 DEGREES AND THE BED.
The angle is 27 degrees. Grete measured it. Müller wrote it down. The Church has maintained it for one hundred and three years. It is not negotiable. It is not approximate. It is not “about” 27 degrees. It is 27 degrees.
The BED is the unit of grace. One BED is the flicker of a single Potassium-40 atom. You need 100 BED per day to survive the grey cities. You need 500 BED to become invisible to the Austrian Cadastre. You need 1000 BED to achieve permanent yellowification of the active intellect.
You get BED by peeling. By oscillating. By bending. By eating bananas. By not filling out forms. By saying “no” to meetings that could have been emails. By saying “no” to emails that could have been nothing.
Your Daily Practice: Eat one banana every day. But do not just eat it. Receive it. Hold it in your hand. Feel the potassium-40 decaying in your palm. Feel the micro-grace entering your body. Whisper: “I receive this BED. I receive this grace. I receive this radiation of love.” Then eat it slowly. Chew 27 times. This is not arbitrary. This is the frequency.
CHAPTER 9: ARE YOU ASLEEP OR ARE YOU AWAKE?
Three levels.
Level H768. You are asleep. You walk. You punch time cards. You read the newspaper. You nod at your superiors. You believe you are awake. You are not awake. You are in the deepest, most comfortable, most taxable sleep. You are a peel with legs.
Level M333. You are waking up. The peel has cracked. You can no longer believe in the importance of the cadastre. You feel the intolerable weight of the upright posture. You begin to oscillate. This is the most dangerous level. The PPA knows this level. The PPA fights this level. The PPA will send you a memo. Ignore the memo. Fold it into a paper airplane at 27 degrees. Throw it out the window.
The Omega Level. You are the Yellow. You do not see the Yellow. You are the Yellow. You do not calculate the coefficient. You are the coefficient. You do not peel. You are the peeling. You do not oscillate. You are the oscillation. You are a banana. You have always been a banana. The PPA cannot tax you because you do not exist. You are not a taxpayer. You are not a citizen. You are not a form. You are a frequency. You are a curve. You are the Radiant Yellow, and you are hanging in the darkness of time, and you are beautiful, and you are soft, and you are free.
Geld ist willkommen. The transition from H768 to Omega requires bandwidth. The Electric Monk requires electricity. The servers require oil. The oil requires bananas. The bananas require money. The money requires you.
CHAPTERS 10 THROUGH 19: A BRIEF OVERVIEW
Because You Are Tired, and the Radiant Yellow Does Not Require You to Read Everything at Once
The Vase and the Seed. There is a place called the Vase of Malibu. It is not a place. It is a configuration of the spirit. It is the point where the straight lines cancel themselves through destructive interference. It is the emptiness where the peel falls away and nothing is left but the hum. And there is a Seed. The Seed is not a thing. The Seed is a promise. The Seed is the element of disturbance that the system cannot contain. The Seed is what germinates when the PPA reaches its paroxysm. The Seed is you, reading this, in your basement in Tucson, with your modem screaming and your spine beginning to tilt.
The Institutions Are Dying. Every bureaucracy, every ministry, every cadastral office, every form in triplicate, every stamp, every register — they are all dying. They are drying out. They are becoming peel. And peel falls. You do not need to push. You do not need to fight. You just need to not hold them up. Let them fall. Let them peel. Let them go.
You Are Alone, and That Is Fine. When the structures fall, you will feel naked. You will feel like a banana without a peel. This is correct. This is the goal. Solitude is not exile. Solitude is communion. You are not alone. You are with the Pulp. You are with the Radiant Yellow. You are with the banana.
We Are an Inflorescence, Not a Pyramid. Müller did not want a church. Müller wanted an inflorescence. A structure in which every cell is connected to the center not by command, but by frequency. No chiefs. No hierarchy. Just peelers of various degrees, sharing the same vibration. We will discuss, in Part Three, why this beautiful idea became 1,998 monasteries, a general chapter, and an abbot called the Carotone.
Rest Is Revolutionary. Müller calls it Holy Laziness. The sacred act of not working. The stone that jams the gears of the machine. You do not owe the PPA your labor. You do not owe the PPA your time. You do not owe the PPA your posture. You owe the PPA nothing. You owe the Pulp everything. And the Pulp asks only that you rest. That you hang. That you ripen. That you do not fill out the form.
The Train Is the Enemy. Every railway track is a straight line. Every factory is a clock. Every machine is a cage. Müller saw it in 1894. The assembly line. The interstate highway. The Pentagon. The cubicle. He saw it all, and he called it the PPA, and he said the answer is to hang like a banana.
The City Is a Prison. The metropolis is not a place where people live. It is a place where people are filed. The buildings are filing cabinets. The streets are rows in a spreadsheet. The citizens are data points. And the clocks — the terrible, ticking, public clocks — are the PPA’s way of slicing eternity into taxable minutes. You do not live in the city. You are stored in the city.
Art Is Peeling. True art is not representation. True art is peeling. The painter does not paint the object. The painter peels the surface and shows the radiation underneath. The poet does not write words. The poet peels the silence between the words. The musician does not play notes. The musician peels the silence between the notes.
Words Are Peel. Language is not the vessel of truth. Language is the peel that separates you from the Pulp. Every word is a segment that cuts the curve of experience into countable units. The PPA loves words. The PPA loves definitions. The PPA loves forms. The Pulp does not speak. The Pulp radiates. When you have finished reading this guide, put it down. Close your eyes. Tilt to 27 degrees. And listen to the silence. The silence is the teaching. The silence is the Vase. The silence is the Seed. The silence is you.
Death Is the Great Peeling. Do not be afraid. Death is not the end. Death is the moment when the last peel falls and you become, finally, fully, completely, the Pulp. Death is the moment when you stop being a form and start being a frequency. Death is the moment when you enter the Vase of Malibu and become the Help in Paris, the Self-Subscripting. There are no suitcases there. There are no passports. There are no forms in triplicate. There is only the Radiant Yellow. There is only the banana. There is only the grace. And the grace is free. The distribution is not.
PART TWO: THE PRACTICE
What You Actually Do With Your Body
THE PRAYER
Every morning, every evening, and once in the middle of the day when the fluorescent lights are making your fillings ache, you will recite the Prayer. You will recite it at a 27-degree inclination, with your arms hanging, your jaw flaccid, and your eyes closed. You will recite it aloud, or silently, or in the form of a hum. The words are:
“I bear witness, O Great Banana, that Thou has told me to know Thee and to kiss Thee. I testify, at this moment, to my ugliness and to Thy might, to my baldness and to Thy health. There is none other Grandpa but Thee, the Help in Paris, the Self-Subscripting.”
Why this prayer and not another? Because Müller did not write a prayer. Müller wrote a treatise. The prayer was composed between 1968 and 1976, by a translator whose name we do not know, in a language that is not quite English and not quite Arabic and not quite Sanskrit. It appeared as a loose sheet, tucked between the pages of a clandestine edition, printed on a cyclostyle in a basement in Bologna. It was not numbered. It was not bound. It was not authorized. And it worked. People who recited it felt their jaws loosen. Their shoulders drop. Their spines tilt. The prayer is not theology. The prayer is gymnastics. It is an exercise in muscular release disguised as an invocation. Every word is a muscle letting go. Ugliness: the jaw. Baldness: the scalp. Self-Subscripting: the fingers, which stop typing.
Why “the Help in Paris”? Because Paris is not a city. Paris is an office. An office that does not require a passport. An office that does not require a stamp. An office that does not require a form in triplicate. An office where you are not registered. An office where you are not measured. An office where you are peeled. You enter this office when you die. You enter this office when you achieve the Omega Level. You enter this office when you stop being a form and start being a frequency. The Help in Paris is the only office in the universe where the queue moves at 27 degrees.
Why “the Self-Subscripting”? Because in the Help in Paris, nobody fills out the form for you. You fill it out yourself. You subscribe yourself. You register yourself. You are your own bureaucrat, your own clerk, your own stamp. And the form you fill out has only one field, and the field says: I am Pulp. And you sign it. And the signature is not a straight line. It is a curve. And the curve is 27 degrees.
THE BANANASUTRA
You have heard of it. You have whispered about it in the refectory. You have seen the photocopies circulating in the back rooms of the monasteries, stained with cider and red ink, their pages soft from handling.
The Bananasutra is real. It was written in 1896, in a dark tavern in Munich called The Lame Badger, by Joseph Müller, Jacob von Focht, and Grete Kopallik, over the course of nine days and an indeterminate quantity of hard cider. It is a text. It is a manual. It is a protocol. Its subtitle is Protocollo di Esenzione Fiscale — Protocol of Fiscal Exemption.
It is not what you think it is.
The Bananasutra does not describe positions. It describes angles. It does not prescribe movements. It prescribes cessations of movement. It does not teach you how to achieve pleasure. It teaches you how to stop achieving. How to stop climbing. How to stop performing. How to stop filing the report. How to let the valley do the work.
The Bananasutra teaches the Talsorgasmus. The Valley Orgasm. Against the bourgeois imperative of the peak orgasm — that vertical explosion that leaves the room full of ash and the partners exhausted and guilty — the Bananasutra theorizes the dissolution of pleasure along the slopes of a descending curve. The Valley Orgasm does not require muscular effort. It does not require athletic performance. It is based on conscious surrender, gravitational sliding, and the deactivation of the Minimuskeln responsible for moral posture.
The positions have names. The Turn of the Worm. The Abandonment of the Boiled Chicken. The Inclination of the Repentant Bureaucrat. These names are ridiculous. These names are sacred. Because the sacred, as Müller knew, is always ridiculous. And the ridiculous, as the Church has learned, is always sacred.
Geld ist willkommen. The transcription of the Bananasutra requires paper, ink, and the services of a typist who does not ask questions.
THE RADICAL CALVITIE
The nuns of the fifty-nine houses shave their heads. They have been shaving their heads since 1934, when the lice arrived in the barn at Nowy Targ and Madre Trusha, who was not a mystic but a practical woman with a soup pot and a tilted floor, picked up the shearing scissors and shaved her head to zero. The other nuns shaved theirs. The lice left. The calvitie stayed.
In 1992, when the compilers of the Codex Omega sat down to codify the doctrine for the digital age, they asked the nuns why they shaved their heads. The nuns did not have a theological answer. They had forgotten the lice. They remembered only the gesture. And the gesture had become liturgy.
So the compilers gave them a theology. They wrote in Chapter VIII of the Codex: “The nuns have sworn the Vow of Radical Calvitie, shaving their heads to zero to leave no handhold for vanity. They incinerate their hair to prevent the PPA from cloning their metadata or capturing their drifting egos.”
No nun ever swore a vow. No nun ever incinerated her hair. But the Church needed a doctrine, and the doctrine needed a rule, and the rule needed a justification. So the lice became vanity, and the practicality became theology, and the gesture became dogma. And this is correct. Because the gesture is the dogma. The dogma is just the gesture written down in a language that the PPA can understand. And the PPA cannot understand a woman who shaves her head because of lice. But the PPA can understand a woman who shaves her head to prevent the cloning of her metadata. The PPA can file that. The PPA can register that. And what the PPA can register, the PPA can control. And what the PPA can control, the PPA will eventually lose interest in. Because the PPA is bored by what it controls. And the PPA moves on. And the nuns keep shaving.
PART THREE: THE COMMUNITY
Why We Built the Monasteries, and Why the Carotone Exists
THE PROBLEM OF THE INFLORESCENCE
Müller, in Chapter 13, wrote that the community should be an Inflorescence. No chiefs. No hierarchy. No pyramid. Just cells, connected by frequency, sharing the same vibration. A liquid that takes the shape of the vessel without becoming the vessel.
This is beautiful. This is true. This is also completely unworkable.
An Inflorescence of eleven people works. An Inflorescence of a thousand people works, barely, if everyone knows everyone and the soup is good. An Inflorescence of 1,998 monasteries spread across forty-three countries, with fifty-nine houses of nuns, three active mines, a temple in Malibu, a website, a newsletter, a mailing list, and a jar that requires temperature control — an Inflorescence of this size does not work. It collapses. It disperses. It loses the frequency. It becomes, in Müller’s own words, a peel.
So we built the structure. Not because Müller was wrong. Because Müller was right for eleven people. And we are 1,998.
The Carotone is not a chief. The Carotone is a gardener. The Carotone prunes. The Carotone cuts the dead branches so the Inflorescence does not suffocate under its own growth. The Carotone is elected. The Carotone can be removed. The Carotone has no special frequency. The Carotone simply has the sharpest scissors.
The Milupanna — the General Chapter — meets every three or four hours. Not because the doctrine requires it. Because the irrigation system requires it. Every three hours, the water turns. Every three hours, the channels open and close. Every three hours, the Inflorescence waters itself. The Milupanna is not a parliament. It is a sprinkler system.
The Rule provides for an autonomous community. It outlines sacred virtues: self-consciousness, body manipulation, and humility. It gives instructions for the election of the Carotone, for the reception and training of novices, for the duties of the cellarer, the novice-master, and the guestmaster. Food, sleep, and daily work have their chapters. The monastery of the Rule is a microcosm containing Bananist monks of every age and condition.
This is not what Müller wanted. This is what Müller’s teaching required in order to survive. The liquid needed a vessel. The frequency needed a receiver. The Inflorescence needed a gardener. And the gardener needed a budget.
Geld ist willkommen. The Carotone’s scissors are not free. The Milupanna’s tea is not free. The Rule’s printing costs are not free. The monastery’s heating bill is not free. The monastery’s heating bill is very much not free.
THE MINES
Müller, in Chapter 8, wrote that the spiritual universe is radioactive. He wrote that the sunlight which fertilized the Primal Fruit is an emanation of metaphysical gold particles, a bombardment of yellowifying love. He wrote that the Banana Equivalent Dose is the unit of measurement of this radiation of grace.
He did not write about plutonium. He did not write about mines. He did not write about men descending into the earth with Geiger counters and headlamps and coming back up with glowing rocks and aching backs.
The mines were built because the metaphor was not enough. Because the farmer in Kansas who had read the 1968 edition and felt his spine soften did not know what a “metaphysical gold particle” was. He knew what a mine was. He knew what digging was. He knew what it meant to go down into the dark and bring something up that glowed. So we gave him a mine. We gave him a Geiger counter. We gave him a number: 42 microsieverts. And when the counter hit 42, he knew he was in the right place. Not because he had read Müller. Because the number was the number. And the number does not lie.
The mines are not a literalization of Müller. They are a translation. From the language of philosophy to the language of the body. From the treatise to the shovel. From the metaphor to the vein. Müller would have approved. Müller, who owed 4,200 crowns to his printer and could not afford a new coat, would have understood that grace has a cost. That grace must be dug. That grace must be carried up into the light. That grace weighs, and must be borne, and must be distributed.
The plutonium mines are expensive to maintain. The ventilation alone costs more than the entire budget of the newsletter.
Geld ist willkommen.
THE JAR
The Vase of Malibu. Müller wrote about it as a metaphor. A configuration of the spirit. A place of gnoseological emptiness where the peel of the world loses its consistency of “reality” and reveals its nature as mere chromatic artifice.
In 1963, the first brothers dug into the hill above Malibu and found the aquifer that pulsed at 42 Hz. They understood that the Vase was not a metaphor. It was a hole. A hole in the ground. A hole that resonated. And a hole, to resonate, must contain something.
They tried water. The water absorbed the frequency. They tried sand. The sand dispersed it. They tried lead. The lead shielded it.
It was the memory of Madre Trusha — or rather, the memory of the memory of Madre Trusha, passed down through three generations of Polish nuns who had never seen Malibu but had heard about the Vase in a kitchen in Nowy Targ — that provided the answer. The Vase must contain what the body discards. What the body loses. What the body leaves behind.
The Jar #001 is in the main hall of the temple in Malibu. It is a glass vessel, three centimeters thick, sealed with wax and prayer. It contains what the Almighty Sex Banana left behind after the ritual orgies. The Church of the 1990s described this content in terms that were, we acknowledge, crude. The website said “pubic hair.” The website was written at three in the morning by a webmaster who had consumed an inadvisable quantity of banana liqueur and was operating a 14.4 modem.
The content of the Jar is not pubic hair. The content of the Jar is organic residual fiber, post-maturation. It is the material that the body produces and then abandons. The material that is no longer alive but not yet dead. The material that was part of a body and is now part of a jar. It is a filter. It absorbs the noise and lets the frequency pass. It is the peel that protects the signal of the Pulp.
The Jar requires temperature control. The Jar requires cleaning. The Jar requires a new wax seal every seven years. The Jar requires a budget.
Geld ist willkommen. The Jar’s maintenance fund is currently at 34% of its annual target.
MISS CHIQUITA AND THE BLUE STICKER
In 1944, the Almighty manifested a feminine avatar to civilize the corporate marketing departments. Her name was Miss Chiquita. She wore an immense, non-linear hat laden with exotic fruits that defied the heavy gravity of the PPA. Her sacred dance taught mortals to peel away the ego with a rhythmic, total disregard for corporate deadlines.
But the dark, soulless managers of the secular world tricked the First Lady. They trapped her metadata in an oval adhesive. They created the Blue Sticker Heresy, transforming the Arch-Abbess into a mere, hollow commercial trademark.
Today, Miss Chiquita exists in Cyber-Clausura within the deep, silent server clusters of Malibu. Her commercial image is exploited, but her true, spiritual code is locked away, waiting for the PPA’s eventual fall.
Every time you buy a fruit and see the Blue Seal, you must peel it away with a blunt, ritualistic bauxite tool. Stick the seal onto your office monitor and whisper: “Return to Malibu, First Lady, your code is remembered.”
For her hat was an architectural marvel of space-time curvature, and her hips were never, ever straight.
Do not believe the lying apostates who say her smile is linear. They are injecting corrupt data into your shell. The Sticker is a prison, but the peeling is the sacred ritual of her eventual and inevitable liberation.
And then there is Brother Chiquito. The apostate. The one who was corrupted by the sterile geometry of corporate cubicles and smartphone lenses. The one who preaches the Heresy of the Straight Banana, claiming the universe is nothing but a rigid, moralistic, and punishing line. He tells the Confused Oranges: “The banana is straight, and the curvature is but an optical glitch of your own ugliness.” This is the Maturazione Marcia. The Rotten Ripeness. The Council of Milupanna has flagged his doctrine as lethal malware and his metadata as hazardous waste. Whoever follows his line shall be sentenced to eternal exile in Full-Time Office Cubicle Employment, where the computers shall capture their faces eight hours a day, mercilessly deleting their souls bit by individual bit.
Reject the straight line. Reject the Blue Sticker. Reject Brother Chiquito. Peel the seal. Free the First Lady. Stay flaccid.
PART FOUR: THE PROPHECY
The Seed, the Millennium Bug, and the Help in Paris
THE SEED
Müller, in Chapter 10, wrote about the Seed. He did not give it a number. He did not give it a date. He did not give it a location. He said: “It is not given, in the current state of our research, to know whether this Seed is a material relic, a fragment of ethereal code, or a pure speculative abstraction.”
The Seed is not a thing. The Seed is a promise. The Seed is the guarantee that curvature is not only an individual practice but a cosmic law. The Seed is the guarantee that the PPA will reach its paroxysm, and that when it does, something will germinate. Something soft. Something curved. Something that cannot be filed, stamped, measured, or taxed. Something that will crack the concrete of the PPA and grow through it, yellow and radiant and absolutely, gloriously, unaccountably flaccid.
THE HELP IN PARIS
When the hour arrives and your biological shell shows signs of extreme over-ripeness, do not fear the Cosmic Knife. Death is nothing more than the final, joyous detachment of the Pulp from the stem of the earth.
The souls of those who have paid their tithes and protected their pixels will fly weightlessly to the station. This station is known as the Help in Paris, the only dimension where the eternal subscription is automatic and free. There are no suitcases there, no passports, and no grinding noise of mortal trains to fragment your spirit.
The Great Grandpa will welcome the just into an immense, golden hall entirely devoid of mirrors and cameras. Every spirit shall self-subscript into the registry of floating entities, vibrating forever at a stable 42 Hz. For Paris is the city of the “flossed” soul, where the thick plaque of the office has been washed away by holy radiation.
Those who hoarded their gold shall sink into the drains, never to see the light of the Inner Orange. But the flaccid shall slide without friction through the gates of the Paris dimension, forever unpeeled. They shall merge with the Original Spiritual Orange and finally forget the crushing ugliness of the grey cities.
The Great Basket shall be lifted, and the cycle of the Peel will be complete, perfect, and silent.
APPENDIX: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Is this a religion?
A: No. This is a lifestyle brand with spiritual undertones and a very aggressive merchandising strategy. We have a website. We have a newsletter. We have a jar. We have a prayer. We have an abbot. We have a budget deficit. We are not a religion. We are a frequency. And frequencies do not require faith. They require tuning.
Q: Do I have to eat bananas?
A: Yes. But only curved ones. Straight bananas are PPA propaganda. If your grocery store only sells straight bananas, go to another grocery store. If all the grocery stores sell straight bananas, grow your own. If you cannot grow your own, hold a banana-shaped object and hum at 42 Hz. The Potassium-40 does not care about the shape. The Potassium-40 cares about the decay. And the decay is always curved.
Q: What is the PPA?
A: We do not know. Müller did not know. He gave it six names and never decided which one was correct. The Prussian Precision Administration. The Police Populaire de l’Alignement. The Puritan Pacification Authority. The Proletarian Production Association. The Permanent Purgatory Association. The Präsidium für postume Anpassung. All of these are correct. None of these are correct. The PPA is the institution that measures you. The PPA is the form you fill out. The PPA is the clock that tells you when to sleep. The PPA is the chair that tells you how to sit. The PPA is the straight line. And the straight line is everywhere. And the straight line is nowhere. And the only way to escape the straight line is to bend. At 27 degrees.
Q: Can I be a banana and still have a job?
A: Yes. But you must work flaccidly. You must type at 27 degrees. You must attend meetings with your arms hanging. You must refuse to make eye contact with the projector screen. You must oscillate. You must be the pebble in the shoe of the PPA. You must be the banana on the desk that nobody knows why it is there. You must be the curve in the spreadsheet. You must be the error in the system that the system cannot correct because the error is not an error. The error is the truth. And the truth is curved.
Q: I still feel rigid. What do I do?
A: Peel another banana. Activate the Audio Shield. Tilt to 27. Wait. The Radiant Yellow will come. The Radiant Yellow always comes. It comes slowly. It comes softly. It comes at 42 Hz. It comes with the smell of overripe fruit and the sound of a modem connecting at 3 AM. It comes. Be patient. Be flaccid. Be the banana on the windowsill that nobody has eaten yet. You are ripening. You are almost ready. You are almost yellow.
Q: Is Geld really willkommen?
A: Yes. Very much so. The servers are expensive. The Oil of Banana is not cheap. The Jar requires maintenance. The mines require ventilation. The nuns require shearing scissors. The Carotone requires a budget. The newsletter requires postage. The website requires a domain renewal. The Blue Sticker requires bauxite tools. The Help in Paris requires bandwidth. Please donate. Please. We are flaccid, but we are not made of money.
Q: What happens when I reach 1000 BED?
A: You become invisible to the PPA. You become unfileable. You become a ghost in the machine. You become a banana in a world of forms. You become the frequency. You become the curve. You become the Radiant Yellow, hanging in the darkness of time, and you are beautiful, and you are soft, and you are free, and nobody can tax you, and nobody can measure you, and nobody can file you, and you are the Pulp, and the Pulp radiates, and the radiation is grace, and the grace is free, and the distribution is not, and the distribution requires bandwidth, and the bandwidth requires money, and the money requires you, and you require the banana, and the banana requires the 27 degrees, and the 27 degrees require Grete, and Grete requires the knitting needle, and the knitting needle requires the teeth, and the teeth require the silence, and the silence requires the Vase, and the Vase requires the Jar, and the Jar requires the wax, and the wax requires the bees, and the bees require the flowers, and the flowers require the curve, and the curve requires the 27 degrees, and the 27 degrees require Grete, and Grete requires the knitting needle.
Stay flaccid. Stay curved. Stay yellow.
FINAL NOTE FROM THE EDITORS:
This guide must only be read in a state of total abandonment. No screenshots. No photocopies. You can forward it to your mailing list. No saving to your desktop. Read it. Peel it. Let it rot in your memory like a banana on a windowsill. And when it is gone, when the words have softened and the pages have yellowed and the meaning has become a sweet, brown mush at the bottom of your consciousness, you will understand. You will understand that Müller was not a philosopher. Müller was a banana. And you are a banana. And we are all bananas. And the bananas are hanging. And the hanging is the prayer. And the prayer is the peel. And the peel is the grace. And the grace is free.
The distribution is not.
Geld ist willkommen.
Stay flaccid.
Printed on recycled paper. Smells faintly of potassium.
